Dwayne Johnson suits up as the iconic anti-hero Black Adam in a first look video from this year’s DC FanDome event.
It’s been a long road to Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam film. The actor originally confirmed that he would be playing the title character all the way back in 2014 as part of the first Shazam! project. As time went on, it was eventually decided to give Johnson his own film. After a production delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic, casting news about Black Adam started hitting the web, with Pierce Brosnan and Aldis Hodge joining the production as Doctor Fate and Hawkman, respectively. Filming wrapped earlier this year.
During last year’s DC FanDome event, we got a behind-the-scenes look at Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. The video showed off animated concept art with the actor voicing over images, revealing who Black Adam was, other characters who would be in the movie, and what it would be about. Now, at long last, we have our first look for the upcoming Black Adam film, showing the wrestler-turned-actor in action. You can watch the sneak peek below!
In addition to Dwayne Johnson, the film stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, and Bodhi Sabongui are also on board in undisclosed roles. Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing the movie with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. FlynnPictureCo’s Scott Sheldon serves as an executive producer.
Black Adam is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the highly-anticipated Dwayne Johnson film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original content.
