Black Adam destroyed his competition!

Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie rocked the global box office with a $140 million debut.

During its first weekend in theaters, Black Adam earned $67 million at the North American box office and $73 million overseas for a worldwide total of $140 million. In comparison, Deadline estimates that Black Adam is currently tracking 27% ahead of Zachary Levi’s first cinematic solo outing as Shazam, which opened in 2019.

Black Adam doesn’t have any serious competition until the arrival of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, Marvel’s latest doesn’t open until the second week of November, giving Black Adam plenty of time to continue dominating the box office.

The future of DC Films

Black Adam is the latest offering from Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is already praising the company’s next two DCEU releases, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash, as Dwayne Johnson continues to tease his future as Black Adam.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui and Pierce Brosnan.

Black Adam is now playing in theaters. Be sure to continue following us for all the latest news regarding the future of the DC Extended Universe and to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
