Dwayne Johnson, the star of DC’s upcoming Black Adam, has revealed he is holding out hope for a crossover with the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in the future.

Dwayne Johnson’s DC debut in Black Adam is imminent and the actor has made no secret of just how big an impact he believes the character will have on DC’s cinematic future. However, he has now revealed an even more ambitious hope for the future of DC – a crossover with Marvel.

Marvel Studios has steadily built up their cinematic universe since the release of Iron Man in 2008. With Warner Bros. Discovery now building a new long-term plan for DC, could the two superhero universes be on a collision course?

In a recent interview with Total Film, Black Adam‘s Dwayne Johnson revealed he is “optimistic” for a DCEU/MCU crossover.

While talking about Black Adam and the DC Universe, Johnson touched upon Marvel’s own universe of heroes and villains. The actor revealed that he believes the two should not only co-exist, but “cross paths” at some point in their cinematic futures.

Talking about his hopes for a shared future between DC and Marvel, Dwayne Johnson said:

“I am optimistic… just my nature is optimistic. And especially when it comes to creative. Especially when it comes to movies. And especially when it comes to the pantheon of DC superheroes and supervillains. Across the street, we have the pantheon of superheroes and supervillains of Marvel. To me, they can not only exist, but they should, in my mind, cross paths one day.”

Marvel and DC have previously crossed paths in the realm of comics, teaming up for titles such as JLA/Avengers and Spider-Man and Batman: Disordered Minds. The two companies also launched Amalgam Comics, a shared publishing imprint in which they merged their characters to create new ones.

Here is the synopsis for Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming DC movie, Black Adam:

“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”
