Dwayne Johnson has, surprisingly, shared an updated version of the latest Black Adam teaser following a wave of complaints from fans of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Johnson recently shared a Black Adam trailer featuring clips of the DCEU’s other heroes and villains. In amongst a series of clips from various DCEU movies was a brief shot of an explosion caused by Steppenwolf from the 2017 version of Justice League – and Snyder Cut fans weren’t happy.
The teaser has now been reuploaded with the clip removed, replaced by a clip that appears to come from Black Adam itself.
Snyder Cut Fans Vs. DC
After fans of Zack Snyder’s Justice League took to Twitter to moan about the 2017 clip seen in the Black Adam trailer, Dwayne Johnson took the video down and replaced it with the updated version, captioning it “Corrected.”
The Justice League clip that had been used only showed an explosion from the film’s opening battle, with very little sign of anything that anchored it in one version of Justice League over the other. However, that was enough to anger those DC fans who believe Zack Snyder’s version of the film should be considered DCEU canon.
One fan even went so far as to suggest the trailer’s one-second Justice League clip could be cause for Black Adam to “flop hard.”
While fans of Zack Snyder’s 2021 cut of Justice League are petitioning hard for DC and Warner Bros. Discovery to restore the “SnyderVerse,” the studio has previously suggested they will not be building upon Snyder’s version of the DCEU in future projects.
Despite the original theatrical cut of Justice League apparently being DCEU canon, it seems the makers of Black Adam don’t want to anger Snyder Cut fans. Interestingly, the offending clip was replaced with footage from Black Adam and not Zack Snyder’s Justice League, possibly suggesting that DC remains unwilling to acknowledge Snyder’s version of the film.
Here is the synopsis for Black Adam:
