Is Avengers: Doomsday actually going to be peak? The early reports for the Multiverse Saga finale suggest that the MCU may very well and truly be “so back”.
Ever since Avengers: Doomsday was announced, the general reaction from the MCU fanbase has been “pessimistic hesitation.” Almost every piece of news that comes out of the project seems like Marvel Studios is using the end of the Multiverse Saga to undo all the major story beats of the last 5 years: bringing back Steve Rogers, shoe-horning Doctor Doom as the main villain instead of Kang, and, of course, casting Robert Downey Jr. as the face of the film.
Even the good news for Avengers: Doomsday always seems to have a minor stank to it. Reports about Doctor Doom’s motivation in the MCU seem amazing….but they don’t FEEL like Doctor Doom. Bringing Tobey Maguire back for the Multiverse Saga finale seems fun, but it steps on already trodden ground. That all to say, fans aren’t too confident Marvel Studios can pull off the daunting task of making a non-divisively good blockbuster.
Is Avengers: Doomsday….Good?
Though it seems the insiders are singing a different tune. Jeff Sneider recently gave some insight about Avengers: Doomsday on The Hot Mic podcast. While he didn’t reveal too much in terms of juicy details for the MCU project, he did give fans some early reports on the film. And it seems as though Marvel Studios’ next swing at the Multiverse Saga is pretty dang solid.
“Avengers is in post and they still have a lot of pick-ups to do, but the buzz is good. The buzz is good. You’re going to like it. You’re going to like the movie.”
Of course, it’s important to note that the MCU and DC Universe are the main franchises keeping leakers in business, so it’s possible that there’s some conflicts of interest with this report. But still, any report suggesting that Avengers: Doomsday may actually be a homerun for Marvel Studios is certainly good to hear, especially as the Multiverse Saga inches closer and closer to its end.
