‘Echo’ Trailer Description Teases Kingpin’s Fate

The Kingpin of crime returns!

Echo Alaqua Cox Vincent D'onofrio Kingpin Wilson Fisk Hawkeye

A new trailer for the upcoming Echo show starring Alaqua Cox premiered during Disney’s Upfronts presentation. While the trailer has yet to be released to the public, descriptions of its contents hint at Kingpin’s fate following the events of Hawkeye.

The finale of Hawkeye shocked many fans when Alaqua Cox’s Echo shot Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, seemingly killing him off-screen. However, the new trailer description for Echo clears up the ambiguous fate of Wilson Fisk as he miraculously survived being shot through the face, with the trailer revealing him alive and well with only a bandage over his eye. His look echoes a similar event from the comics where Fisk had bandages over both of his eyes.

The return of Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin should come as no surprise to fans. It’s long been confirmed that Wilson Fisk would appear in Daredevil: Born Again and he’s previously been seen in set photos for Echo. However, debuting him in the trailer seems to suggest he’ll have a larger role in Echo than many may have suspected. Currently, there’s no news on if Kingpin will act as a mentor to Alaqua Cox in the show or as an antagonist.

Where Echo lies within the MCU

Echo is set to debut on November 29, 2023 on Disney Plus, with every episode of the show releasing at once. This makes it the first MCU project on Disney Plus to follow the Netflix binge model of releasing all of the episodes on the same day.

Alaqua Cox’s Hawkeye spinoff series will be the tenth overall original Marvel Studios series for Disney Plus, and is one of two other live-action spinoffs from previous series that also includes the WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Here is the official synopsis for the upcoming Hawkeye spinoff series, Echo:

“The origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.”

Serving as executive producers on Echo are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre, and Jason Gavin, while Amy Rardin, Sydney Freeland, Christina King, and Jennifer Booth will serve as co-executive producers.
