‘Doctor Strange 2’ Report Teases Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Screentime

The movie will reportedly focus on Wanda as much as Strange.

Wanda Scarlet Witch Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness

A new report suggests that Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will have about as much screentime as Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

When the Doctor Strange sequel was first announced, one of the first details to be confirmed was that Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch would be joining the cast alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular sorcerer. Little was known of exactly what Wanda Maximoff’s role in the film would be at the time of the announcement, though her character has evolved dramatically since then. Throughout the Disney Plus series, WandaVision, Wanda came to realize the incredible true extent of her powers and officially adopted the title of the Scarlet Witch.

WandaVision also introduced Wanda’s children and while they were ultimately revealed to be part of the false reality she had created, promos for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have teased their return in the film. Therefore, it looks like there could be a major story to explore for Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in Multiverse of Madness and a new report from insider Daniel Richtman suggests this will be as much Wanda’s film as Stephen Strange’s. Writing on Twitter, Richtman revealed:

While trailers have hinted Elizabeth Olsen would have a major role in the film, this report suggests audiences will get to see a full Wanda story play out alongside Strange’s own story, turning the film into less of a solo piece and more of a Marvel crossover. Given the success of the Avengers films, Spider-Man: No Way Home and 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, it’s not surprising Marvel are looking to tell more crossover stories.
