Does Elizabeth Olsen have big plans for the Scarlet Witch? The actress reveals on key moment she’d love to play out if she ever makes her return to the MCU.
There have been very few actors more outspoken about their MCU character than Elizabeth Olsen. It’s clear that the actress has a deep love for the heroine, not just in what it did for her career, but the world she gets to entire when she dons the mantle of the Scarlet Witch. And while the character is currently dead, fans are hoping it’s a less-than-permanent state of affairs.
This sentiment has also been echoed by Elizabeth Olsen herself. The actress recently sat down with InStyle to discuss her career, which included her iconic role in the MCU. During the chat, she gushed about the opportunity to play Scarlet Witch in the franchise, seemingly hinting she has hopes to take some shocking turns in the future.
“[I] care a lot about playing the Scarlet Witch. I always hope to do something surprising, every time I’ve been able to return. It’s meant the world to me to be a part of it.”
Elizabeth Olsen’s Hopes For The Scarlet Witch
Usually, Elizabeth Olsen keeps things pretty vague about wanting to return to the MCU (likely trying to avoid accidentally breaking an NDA or two). However, the actress did tip her hand a bit more than usual in this interview. When holding a Funko POP of the Scarlet Witch, Olsen revealed that she still hopes to create the iconic House of M moment from the comics.
“No more mutants. That’s the character I mentioned playing before—Scarlet Witch. It’s a great line she has in the House of M, and I’ve never been able to say it, and I’d like to.”
Given the MCU is about to enter its Mutant Saga, it’d be shocking if the Scarlet Witch does end up saying “No More Mutants” during the remainder of Elizabeth Olsen’s tenure as the heroine. However, with her character oscillating between the role of hero and villain, it would certainly be interesting to see her lean into her evil roots in future projects.
