Emily Blunt is hoping to see her husband John Krasinski as Reed Richards in the next Fantastic Four movie.
Earlier this year, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured the first appearance of a major Fantastic Four character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with John Krasinski playing the Earth-838 variant of Reed Richards. That version of Reed only had a few minutes of screentime before being killed of by Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, leaving Krasinki’s future as the character in doubt.
Emily Blunt shows her support for her husband
With Marvel working on a new Fantastic Four movie, Emily Blunt was recently asked if we’ll see her husband John Krasinski return to the role of Reed Richards. Here’s what she told the folks at HeyUGuys:
“I hope so. I hope so. You never know. I was really happy for him because I think he’s a huge fan. And I understand why it’s such an ardent passionate religion for people. It’s a huge part of our cinematic history now. So he was thrilled.”
Emily Blunt herself has been a fan-favorite for the role of Reed’s wife Sue Storm, but the actress has made it clear that she has no interest in comic book movies. Blunt was actually Marvel’s first choice for the role of Black Widow in 2010’s Iron Man 2, an opportunity she had to pass up on due to scheduling conflicts with the Jack Black starrer Gulliver’s Travels.
WandaVision helmer Matt Shakman is set to direct the Fantastic Four movie for Marvel. The film’s screenplay is currently being written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, but the project is still a long time away as it was recently pushed back to 2025.
Fantastic Four is currently scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
