A key Eternals character is reportedly on track to appear in a brand new MCU project.

Eternals hive assemble! Chloe Zhao’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may not have been the commercial or critical darling that the studio had hoped for, but the film has found new life on Disney Plus where it continues to attract new viewers. It’s unknown if Eternals will ever receive a formal sequel, as the film ended with a major cliffhanger that holds intense ramifications for the entire MCU.

While plans for the future are unclear, it’s extremely likely that characters who debuted in Eternals will continue to appear in future MCU projects. A report from last month indicated that Richard Madden could be returning as Ikaris in another Marvel project, likely Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight. While those reports have yet to be confirmed, it appears that another Eternals character is already on track to show up once again.

A new report from allkpop suggests that Don Lee will be returning as Eternals hero Gilgamesh for a future project set within the MCU. The outlet states that the star is set to return to the United States this summer to work on a project for the studio. Gilgamesh is best remembered as the caretaker of Thena. Gilgamesh was notably killed in the film, so either a variant of Don Lee’s cosmic hero will be popping up or the project is set prior to the events of Eternals.

Here is the synopsis for Don Lee’s Eternals:

The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.

Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.

Eternals is available to stream on Disney Plus will be available on home media formats on February 15. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the film’s characters, including Ikaris, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
