Eugene Cordero, who appeared in the first season of Marvel’s Loki on Disney Plus as the TVA’s Secretary Casey, has confirmed he will be reprising his role in Season 2.
In Season 1 of Loki Eugene Cordero’s Secretary Casey was a minor figure working in an administrative role within the TVA – the Time Variance Authority. His role in the series was a small, comedic one. When Loki threatened him in the series’ opening episode, Casey revealed he had lived his whole life behind his desk, within the confines of the TVA. It was also Casey who revealed that the TVA picked up Infinity Stones from rogue variants all the time, some staff even using them as paperweights. It was this moment that opened Loki’s eyes to the incredible power the TVA wielded.
Casey Makes A Comeback
It is not yet known whether Casey will have a larger role in Season 2 of Loki, but his return has now been officially confirmed by Eugene Cordero. Given that Season 1 ended with the multiverse being unleashed and the TVA’s own history being rewritten, placing it under the control of Kang the Conqueror, Casey is likely to be a little different when he next appears on screens.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Cordero revealed he would definitely be back, but noted there was very little he could reveal about his role in the next series. Not only is Marvel notoriously strict when it comes to preventing spoilers, but Cordero noted that the scripts for the series are constantly being revised, meaning the nature of his role won’t be fixed until production on Season 2 is complete. “Yes, yes, you can [look forward to more Casey]. You know, I can’t [tease anything], because I don’t even know. There’s so many passwords and passcodes that I have to fill out just to even look at the pages that I’m on, and the way that it works is things constantly change in a great way. There’s so many moving parts in that universe that things keep changing, so I can’t really nail it down, but I’m excited. I’m excited to do more and I don’t know to what capacity I’ll be able to be a part of it, but I’m excited to do it. So yeah, get ready, it’ll be fun, I hope? No, it will be, it’ll be great. [Chuckles]”
Casey’s return seems to promise the series will continue to explore the TVA and see its key members return, as was expected following Season 1’s conclusion. However, exactly what the purpose of the TVA will be under Kang’s leadership remains a mystery for now.
