‘Moon Knight’ Star Ethan Hawke Teases Arthur Harrow’s Return

Is Arthur Harrow coming back?

Ethan Hawke Moon Knight Arthur Harrow

Ethan Hawke entered the MCU in Moon Knight on Disney Plus and while it seemed like his character, Arthur Harrow, was killed in the finale, the actor has hinted he may still be alive.

Ethan Hawke’s Arthur Harrow was the primary antagonist in Moon Knight, a former avatar of Khonshu, turned disciple of the vengeful goddess Ammit. Harrow sought to release Ammit from her centuries-long imprisonment, allowing her to lethally judge the entire world by their past, present and future actions. The series ended with Ammit being trapped by Moon Knight in Harrow’s body, before Harrow was then killed by Jake Lockley – the mysterious third alter, sharing a body with Marc Spector and Steven Grant.

Harrow’s death was not explicitly shown. Jake Lockley’s gunshots were heard from outside the limousine in which he had picked up Harrow. While Jake carrying out the execution that both Steven and Marc had refused to perform seemed like a natural ending to the series, Ethan Hawke has now hinted Arthur Harrow may be alive after all.

“Doesn’t Seem Dead”

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Ethan Hawke was asked about the fate of his Moon Knight character. While it seemed like the series had definitively killed him off in its closing moments, this is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where few deaths are truly permanent.

When asked if Arthur Harrow was really dead, Ethan Hawke reponded “Sure doesn’t seem dead to me.” Given that Hawke could have responded with a simple “yes” or a “wait and see” type answer, the fact he opted to respond that Harrow “doesn’t seem dead” suggests Marvel may have future plans for the Avatar of Ammit.

Moon Knight was billed as a limited series and so far no second season has been announced. However, given the positive response to the series’ first season, it’s possible Marvel will look to bring back Oscar Isaac for another turn as the superhero and it sounds like Ethan Hawke could be coming back with him.

Here is the synopsis for Moon Knight:

The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

Created by Jeremy Slater, the Disney Plus series stars Oscar Isaac, May Calamawy, Karim El Hakim, F. Murray Abraham, Ethan Hawke, Ann Akinjirin, David Ganly, Khalid Abdalla, Gaspard Ulliel, Antonia Salib, Fernanda Andrade, Rey Lucas, Sofia Danu, and Saba Mubarak.
