Miles Morales Battles The Spot In New ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’ Image

This will hit the Spot...

Miles Morales The Spot Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse

The Spot is officially joining Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, with a new image showing the classic villain duking it out with Miles Morales.

The French Dispatch star Jason Schwartzman will voice the Spot in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the film’s official Twitter account has confirmed. The Spot, whose real name is Dr Jonathan Ohnn, is a supervillain with the power to open portals across space and dimensions. With Miles and his spider-themed allies already set to traverse multiple realities in the Into the Spider-Verse sequel, the Spot’s interference could cause some serious complications.

A New Enemy Has Been Spotted

Announcing Jason Schwartzman’s casting as the Spot on Twitter, the official Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse account shared a look at the villain grappling with Miles Morales’s Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Woman.

While the villain maintains his dalmatian-like appearance from the comics, he looks a little hazy in comparison to the two spider-heroes. Not only is the Spot looking a little blurred and distorted, traces of penciling can be seen throughout his body, building on the film’s comic book aesthetic. Whether the image is an actual frame from the film or simply a publicity still is not clear. Check out the first image of the Spot in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse below:

Interestingly, the tweet refers to the Spot as “Miles Morales’s most formidable foe yet.” In the comics, the Spot was one of Peter Parker’s enemies, but this would suggest the film is reimagining the classic villain as a nemesis to Peter’s Spider-Man successor. It’s not clear if the Spot will come from Miles’ universe or from elsewhere in the multiverse.

Here is the synopsis for the highly-anticipated Spider-Verse sequel:

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.

Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Dave Callaham, the film features the voices of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Oscar Isaac, and Issa Rae.
