Is Quicksilver on his way back to the MCU? Evan Peters speaks on if he has any desire to return to his most iconic superhero role.
Quicksilver is one of the oddest characters in the MCU. The role was initially played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Age of Ultron, who only agreed to play the part due to the fact he’d be killed by the end of the film. The character would then return in Wandavision, though this time played by Evan Peters, who portrayed the character in Fox’s X-Men franchise.
And with the MCU now shifting from the Multiverse to the Age of Mutants, there’s a LOT of questions regarding what the future will hold for Quicksilver. While some want a new actor for the part, many hope one of the prior actors will return. Out of the two, Evan Peters is by far the most popular online, with fans hoping that he becomes the franchise’s main speedster. Surprisingly, it seems as though the actor is open to the possibility.
“No, haha. No, actually. I’m curious…” Peters told ComicBook.com when asked if the constant theories about his return drained him. “Yeah, anything really. I had such a blast playing that character. And, you got to dive a little bit into his home life is weird as it was.”
Evan Peters’ Hopes For A Quicksilver Return
Just the idea of Evan Peters making a return as Quicksilver would likely be enough to send any American Horror Story turned Wanda Maximoff fangirl into a coma. However, Peters wasn’t done on simply being optimistic about a future in the MCU. The actor would go on to express his hopes for a particular storyline focused on his heritage.
“But, but, yeah, sort of exploring that more would be interesting. And the relationship with Magneto would be pretty cool. Yeah. So, yeah, I don’t know. Knock on wood.”
Evan Peters’ story as Quicksilver did previously revolve around his relationship with Magneto, especially toward the tail-end of the Fox franchise. However, given that timeline was cut short by critical failure after critical failure, it’s possible that a return as the hero in the MCU could provide some much needed closure for fans and actors alike.
