Disney revealed the first poster for Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which confirms the show’s premiere date.

The Book of Boba Fett just wrapped up its seven-episode season, and now Star Wars fans know what they can look forward to next. Following a report that suggested a May release for Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney dropped the first poster for the series featuring Ewan McGregor’s Jedi Master, and a May 25th release date.

The May 25th release date for Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi premiere marks Star Wars‘ return to the month when the films arrived over the Memorial Day weekend. Solo: A Star Wars Story was the last film to premiere in May, and The Bad Batch made its debut on May the 4th last year on Disney Plus. May 25th is also significant because it marks the 45th anniversary of the film that started it all, A New Hope.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi teaser poster also gives us our first look at Ewan McGregor as the hermit on Tatooine after the events of Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. It appears Kenobi will sport longer hair in the series, and the poster sees him carrying Anakin’s lightsaber. You can check out the poster below.

Lucasfilm describes the Star Wars story as a special event series for Disney Plus, and there are not many details on the upcoming Star Wars series at this time. However, we do know the series will feature a rematch between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and before their final confrontation in A New Hope.

Directed by Deborah Chow from Joby Harold’s scripts, the series stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will hit Disney Plus on May 25, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
