Another Star Wars legend is about to return!

Ewan McGregor’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series will reportedly hit Disney Plus in May.

So far, Disney has been tight-lipped about the release dates of their shows for the streaming service, which has led to plenty of speculation. Once The Book of Boba Fett wraps up next week, Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight will follow as the next major Disney Plus series, dropping at the end of March. Since Marvel and Star Wars have been switching off, this has led to many believing that Obi-Wan Kenobi would release after Moon Knight.

Speculation over the release date grew when a Disney Plus executive accidentally shared on Twitter that the Star Wars series would arrive in May. The Hollywood Reporter has now backed up the May release date for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Star Wars: The Bad Batch premiered on May the 4th last year, so Lucasfilm might do the same with Obi-Wan this year.

If Obi-Wan Kenobi comes out in May, that means we can expect to see the first trailer for the series in either March or April based on previous Disney Plus shows. The May release date also makes sense, with Lucasfilm releasing several stories centered on Kenobi around that timeframe.

Lucasfilm describes the Star Wars story as a special event series for Disney Plus, and there are not many details on the upcoming Star Wars series at this time. However, we do know the series will feature a rematch between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and before their final confrontation in A New Hope.

Directed by Deborah Chow from Joby Harold’s scripts, the series stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will hit Disney Plus in 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
