Ewan McGregor speaks on his future as the beloved Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, potentially teasing a return sometime soon.
Ewan McGregor is one of the most beloved actors in the Star Wars pantheon. Even though his trilogy as Obi-Wan Kenobi was largely panned, and his revival series was considered even worse, he still holds a soft spot in the hearts of so many fans. So this has left the internet wondering: when and how could he return to the role?
It seems Ewan McGregor himself has some ideas. During a recent appearance at FanExpo Canada (via: Science Fiction & Fantasy Gazette), the actor remarked that he absolutely adored Andor. And while the timelines didn’t exactly match up, he’d love to find some way to cameo alongside the cast in a future project as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
“I was thinking, ‘I think I’m in this timeline. I think I could be in season 3.’ I was super excited, and then I realized, ‘Oh no,’ Maybe if there was, I could have squeezed in there, if only. There’s always a chance that maybe there’s a story that’s happening at the same time where it kind of crosses over. So there’s always a chance if Disney is listening – hypothetically, hypothetically. Come on, Disney.”
Will Ewan McGregor Return As Obi-Wan Kenobi?
While the stars didn’t align for him to make a cameo in Andor, it seems as though Obi-Wan Kenobi isn’t gone for good. Continuing on, Ewan McGregor reveals that he doesn’t think his character’s titular series will be getting a season 2 anytime soon. However, it does seem that the actor is preparing to make his return in some sort of project.
“I don’t know their plans right now, but I’m sure at some point,” McGregor remarked about a potential season 2 before adding “I’m going to watch all of Clone Wars. That’s my homework.”
This almost certainly confirms that Ewan McGregor will be making some sort of cameo in Ahsoka season 2, which started filming a few months ago in the UK. This makes sense as the project for him to return, as fans have been begging for a live-action reunion between the Clone Wars trio for literal decades at this point. Though, hopefully, they find somewhere to toss Cassian Andor in alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi!
