Despite their recent wave of run-ins with the law, Ezra Miller is understood to have completed reshoots on The Flash over the summer, shortly before they were charged with felony burglarly.
The Flash is set for release in June 2023, with Warner Bros. Discovery assuring fans that the film will not join the likes of Batgirl and other DC projects currently being shelved. The news that The Flash is still set to hit the big screen has come as something of a surprise, given star Ezra Miller’s recent arrests and the allegations of grooming and child endangerment made against them.
Recently, Ezra Miller was charged with felony burglarly after stealing alcohol. Shortly before these charges were made, however, Miller was still working on The Flash, returning to the film for reshoots over the summer.
DC Goes Full Speed Ahead On Ezra Miller’s The Flash
Ezra Miller was initially arrested in Hawaii earlier this year. They were arrested twice in quick succession, following two separate violent incidents.
Since these arrests, the star of The Flash has faced allegations of grooming and child endangerment and has had at least one order of protection filed against them. On August 7th, Miller was charged with felony burglarly after bottles of alcohol were stolen from a home in Vermont in May.
Ezra Miller is not expected to return to DC for future projects after the release of The Flash, but for many it will be surprising that Warner Bros. Discovery is still happy to release The Flash with the actor at all, especially at a time when so many DC projects are being axed for far less serious issues.
The fact that reshoots were completed after Miller’s initial arrests suggests there was never any doubt at Warner Bros. Discovery that The Flash would go ahead as planned with Miller in the lead role. The company has come under criticism for refusing to speak out on Miller’s recent actions.
Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash is inspired by the Flashpoint comic book storyline, which followed Barry Allen as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles.
In addition to Ezra Miller, The Flash also features Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two separate versions of Batman, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul and Sasha Calle as Supergirl. Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Rudy Mancuso, and Luke Brandon Field are also on board in undisclosed roles.
The Flash opens on June 23, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
