Last year, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them returned audiences to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Based on a fictional text book credited to the character Newt Scamander, but written by J. K. Rowling, the film kicked-off what will now become a new series of films. The first Fantastic Beasts sequel was reportedly set to begin filming this summer according to cast member Zoe Kravitz. Now a production update from My Entertainment World has revealed that production on the film will begin in August 2017.
The production entry lists the United Kingdom and Paris, France while New York is no longer named as a shooting location.
Few details on the film are known at this point except for the fact that the relationship between a young Albus Dumbledore and Grindlewald, played by Johnny Depp, will be explored.
The first Fantastic Beasts sequel is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 16, 2018.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them earned a total of $812.3 million.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be available on Digital HD on 7 March, 2017, and on DVD and Blu-Ray on 28 March, 2017.
