Is Avengers: Doomsday getting a new title? Theories surrounding the first official set photo of the film have people speculating about a name change.
Recently, the Russo Brothers took to social media to share what is technically the first official photo of the Avengers: Doomsday set. The format of this set photo reminded fans of a similar picture the directors posted all the way back in 2018, which revealed, not just the title for Avengers: Endgame, but also audiences’ first look at the time travel machine used in the film. As such, fans are on the look out for any clues hidden here.

While there are plenty of theories about what this set photo could mean, perhaps the most popular idea is that the Russo Brothers are once more teasing the name of the next installment in the Avengers franchise. The obvious “A” on the left side of the photo contrasted with the “X” shaped scaffolding has many believing that this picture is teasing a title change from Avengers: Doomsday to Avengers Vs. X-Men.
What A Title Change Could Mean For Avengers: Doomsday
Changing the title from Avengers: Doomsday to Avengers Vs. X-Men puts up some clear signals about what this movie will be about- if this set photo theory is to be believed. It likely means that Doctor Doom won’t play as large of a role in the film as fans’ thought, with him likely taking a backseat to let someone like Magneto be the main villain before taking up the mantle of leading threat in the upcoming Secret Wars film.
It’s also no secret that the decision to cast Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom has proved to be controversial online. By changing the title to Avengers Vs. X-Men, the focus now becomes on the long-awaited crossover of Marvel’s two biggest properties. Whereas with Avengers: Doomsday, all focus would be put on Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
