In the MonsterVerse series, Monarch is an organization whose actual function is relatively vague. For the most part, they seem to track the Kaiju, assess the damage they cause, and advise the government on how to move forward. They were first introduced in the 2014 film, Godzilla before having larger roles in Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King Of The Monsters before being pushed to the sidelines in Godzilla vs Kong.
In addition to the MosterVerse series, a film is currently being made that will focus on Godzilla and Kong once again. This time around the film is said to be a team-up movie as the two iconic titans battle a new threat. Godzilla vs Kong director Adam Wingard is set to return to helm the project.
Here is the synopsis for the series:
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.
Created by Matt Fraction and Chris Black, the upcoming series stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski. WandaVision‘s Matthew Shakman is directing two episodes of the series. Safehouse Pictures’ Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold along with Toho Co.’s Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita are also on board as executive producers.
