Florence Pugh discussed working with Scarlett Johansson on Black Widow, calling the film “painful but beautiful”.
In a new interview with Beanie Feldstein on Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Florence Pugh described working on Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and had an interesting description of the film. Black Widow will see Natasha teaming up with Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, the second Black Widow from the modern comics. The Midsommar star also explained that Black Widow finally receiving her own film was a particularly special experience for Scarlett Johansson.
Florence Pugh also said that Black Widow is “very raw and very painful and very beautiful,” which makes sense considering the film will be something of a victory lap for Scarlett Johansson’s character after her poignant death during Avengers: Endgame. It seems likely that the film will pass on the Black Widow mantle to Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, but fans will have to wait until the first trailer drops to find out more. Take a look at what Florence Pugh had to say about the Black Widow film below.
“I think we’ve made something very raw and very painful and very beautiful and I think people are going to be really surprised by the outcome of a big action film having that much heart. And I know lots of people will be emotional about her because her character had such a hard ending but it was special learning from her, and she’s been doing this for like 10 years in those films. For this to be her film was special. And I got to be there and see how she does stunts and lives it, and it’s so her.”
