G.I. Robot is finally coming to live-action! However, James Gunn suggests he may not return in the exact DC Universe project that fans expect him to.
The second he was introduced in Creature Commandos, G.I. Robot became one of the most beloved characters in the DC Universe. Not only was he a simple, fun concept, but he also had one of the best single episodes of television that James Gunn has ever written. This has left many hoping for the character to make his return soon, preferably in live-action.
The latest episode of Peacemaker season 2 reignited that hunger among fans with the reveal that the alternate Earth was one ruled by Nazis. To many, this was the perfect place for G.I. Robot to make his return, allowing him to massacre as many Nazis as possible without broader ramifications for the spread of Nazism in the DC Universe.
Is G.I. Robot In Peacemaker Season 2?
James Gunn was actually asked about the potential return of the Tin-Man during a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly. Sadly, the director outright confirms that G.I. Robot won’t be making his return in season 2 of Peacemaker. However, he does add that the character will be making his live-action debut in a future project.
“The answer to that question, which, this is going to be all anybody talks about from this interview, is yes, but not necessarily when you think you’re going to see him. So not necessarily in Peacemaker season 2.”
When it comes to where G.I Robot could return, the obvious answer is Sgt. Rock. James Gunn already established that the character was a member of Easy Company in Creature Commandos. And, given the film was delayed due to weather conditions and not quality concerns, it’s likely that the character will appear in live-action once that movie starts filming next summer.
Creature Commandos season 1 is currently streaming on Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
