Avengers: Endgame star Elizabeth Olsen has revealed that she auditioned for the role of Daenerys Targaryen on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones.

In a world of mega franchises it’s very hard to sometimes see our favorite actors take on roles outside of their respective franchises. However, many fans were hit with a huge surprise recently when Avengers: Endgame actress Elizabeth Olsen revealed she had auditioned to be a part of another mega franchise, Game of Thrones.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Elizabeth Olsen revealed that he auditioned for the role of Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones. Here’s what she told the site:

“When I first started working, I just auditioned for everything, because I like auditioning. And I auditioned for Khaleesi. I forgot that.”

Olsen went on to elaborate about her audition, mentioning what all she had to do for the scene.

“I did a monologue from after she just burned. And she’s making this speech to thousands of people about how she’s their queen. They didn’t know if they wanted a British accent or not. So, you did it in both. It was terrible. Anytime someone says, ‘Bad audition story.’ That’s one I remember.”

It’s interesting to think what could’ve happened if the Avengers: Endgame actress had gotten the par, as both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Game of Thrones universe would probably be entirely different. While the role of Scarlet Witch in the Avengers films is a huge get, many people cite Khaleesi as a pop cultural icon that will forever be associated with Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke.

Of course it seems that the medieval fantasy epic just wasn’t meant for Elizabeth Olsen. However, Olsen has still garnered a massive fanbase with her work in the MCU and will seemingly play a larger role in the universe moving forward. Following the heartbreaking loss of  Vision in Avengers: Infinity War and Scarlet Witch’s epic return in Avengers: Endgame, many fans are excited to see what will become of the character in her recently announce Disney+ show titled WandaVision.

While we still have very few details on WandaVision, you can check out Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Endgame. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”
