English singer-songwriter Gary Barlow has revealed that he has a cameo in the upcoming 8th installment of the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Barlow confirmed his appearance in the next Star Wars film during an interview with ITV. The singer had been rumored to have secretly a filmed a cameo for the upcoming film since last year. Barlow remained tight-lipped on his role in The Last Jedi, only assuring that he is not a Stormtrooper as he told ITV’s, Ross King:
“I’m not a stormtrooper, but I am in it.”
The singer added now that he has revealed his involvement he thinks he will probably be cut out of the film:
“Now I’ve said that, I’ll probably be out. I think the Star Wars people are so strict about what information [is out there]. So me saying that, I’ve probably just done myself out of a role.”
In addition to Barlow, Prince William and Harry, as well as Tom Hardy have been reported to appear as Stormtroopers in the new film. A stormtrooper seen in a photo shared by Johnson bears a similar to resemblance to Hardy.
Official details on the plot are still under wraps, however, The Last Jedi will pick up directly where The Force Awakens left off. The film will dig deeper into the new characters introduced in Episode VII as it explores Kylo Ren’s humanity as well as how Rey deals with the discovery of the force inside her. John Boyega has said that director Rian Johnson has managed to craft a Star Wars film that has an “indie movie” feel.
The film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran, and Andy Serkis.
