Gemma Chan Confirms A Love Triangle In Marvel Studios’ ‘The Eternals’

The Eternals star Gemma Chan confirmed the upcoming Marvel Studios’ film will involve a love triangle.

Marvel Studios’ phase 4 line-up includes a feature film titled The Eternals, which will introduce several of the titular superhumans to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Included among the ensembled cast in actress Gemma Chan, who will portray Sersi, an Eternal who has an affection for humans.

While full details on the story for The Eternals have been kept under wraps, the footage shown at Brazil’s CCXP in Brazil indicated the film will center on a love triangle between Gemma Chan’s Sersi, Richard Madden’s Ikaris, and Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman. During an interview with Vanity Fair Italia, Gemma Chan confirmed The Eternals will involve a love triangle, which is one of the reasons she was interested in the film:

“Sersi is the one that has the most affinity with humans. [Indeed] she is even involved in two love stories, an absolute novelty for Marvel events and one of the reasons that attracted me of this project.”

“Marvel Studios’ The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.

Directed by Chloé Zhao from a script written by Matthew K. Firpo and Ryan Firpo, The Eternals stars Richard Madden as Ikaris, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayak as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as Druig, and Angelina Jolie as Thena. Kit Harrington was cast as Dane Whitman.

The Eternals will be released in theaters on November 6, 2020.
