Moff Gideon is back with a vengeance!

Giancarlo Esposito has recently hinted at what Star Wars fans can expect to see from Moff Gideon in the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian.

Esposito has appeared as Moff Gideon throughout the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, where the Imperial villain was seen attempting to capture Grogu for his own mysterious experiments. While he was taken into custody by the New Republic at the end of Season 2, it sounds like he will be getting back to his old tricks in Season 3.

Speaking about The Mandalorian Season 3, Giancarlo Esposito teased Moff Gideon’s upcoming rise through what remains of the Empire’s ranks.

Moff Gideon Takes Charge Of The Empire

While speaking at Fan Expo Canada, Giancarlo Esposito revealed the third season of The Mandalorian would see Moff Gideon trying to claim control of all surviving Imperial remnants.

Many fans have theorized that Esposito’s Moff Gideon is attempting to grow a new clone body for Emperor Palpatine, making him the creator of Snoke and Palpatine’s new body as seen in Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. Whatever Gideon’s actual plan, assuming power over the galaxy seems to be a priority.

Talking about what to expect from Gideon in the next season of The Mandalorian, Giancarlo Esposito said:

“When everything fell apart, there were wardens who were placed in different parts of this particular galaxy to maintain order… When everything falls apart and you have no leadership, and everything is just crumbling, we all would want someone to stand up and have some kind of vision for how to be about all of us.

“So the guy, Moff Gideon, has been given that wardenship over a particular part of geography, land mass, and he sees that the other wardens aren’t really as strong and powerful as him and he gets a taste of ‘Oh, I can straighten all this out! If you only listen to me, you would all be better!’ And then, underneath it, ‘Oh, I have a better vision’… He becomes not only drunk with power, but drunk with the idea that his vision is better than everyone else’s.”

Based on Giancarlo Esposito’s comments, it sounds like Moff Gideon will not only be going up against Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin in the next season of The Mandalorian, but contending with his fellow Imperials for ultimate power over what remains of the Empire.
