GLOW star Alison Brie has offered an update on the She-Hulk casting rumors.

Earlier this year it was announced that Marvel was seeking an “Alison Brie-type” to star in their upcoming She-Hulk series for Disney Plus. The GLOW star was thrilled that the studio was seeking someone like her for the upcoming series but didn’t necessarily comment on if she wanted the role. Since then, casting rumors for She-Hulk have been relatively dry. There have been numerous fan casts for the series, with the usual suspects like Aubrey Plaza, Gina Carano, and Stephanie Beatriz popping up. However, the most sought after actress, especially after the rumor, has been Brie.

So, when speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the GLOW star was asked if there were any updates on the “Alison Brie-type story” that was circulating earlier this year. Brie discussed that there were none at the moment but expressed how happy she was that her fans have been keeping her updated!

“You know, I’ve been trying to follow it online a little bit, and there don’t seem to be. But it is always funny to me when something kind of takes off on the internet, and I’m getting my updates from fans tagging me in things on Instagram. I’m like, “Oh, interesting. Oh, people are still talking about it. That’s cool.””

Details on the She-Hulk series have been relatively dry as of late. The last update we received from the Disney Plus series was in May when it was revealed that the writers room had come to an end. Filming would be the next logical step but that’s been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has still left many worried. Mark Ruffalo has confirmed that he’s had talks to star in the She-Hulk series, which’ll be a great boost for the show’s viewership. As for who should take on the role, Alison Brie would make a fine choice. However, she’s currently got her hands full with GLOW, though she has juggled multiple series in the past.

In the comics, She-Hulk is the alter-ego of Jennifer Walters, a private attorney and the cousin of Bruce Banner. After being shot, Jennifer Walters receives a blood transfusion from Bruce that transforms her into the gamma-powered She-Hulk. However, unlike most incarnations of Bruce Banner’s Hulk, Jennifer Walters retains her sharp wit and emotional control in her She-Hulk form, which later becomes permanent.
