‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters’ Gets A Brutal Honest Trailer

ScreenJunkies has released a new Honest Trailer taking aim at the new Godzilla sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the third installment to the cinematic MonsterVerse from Legendary Pictures following Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island. After earning a rotten 41% score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Godzilla: King of the Monsters managed a total of $385.9 million at the worldwide box office, ranking in last place for the franchise. The new Honest Trailer from ScreenJunkies pokes fun at the film’s weaknesses, including its characters and an overstuffed yet underwhelming narrative.

Directed by Michael Dougherty from a script written by Max Borenstein, Michael Dougherty, and Zach Shields, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O’Shea Jackson Jr., with Ken Watanabe and Zhang Ziyi. Here’s the synopsis for Godzilla: King of the Monsters:

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Godzilla: King of Monsters will be followed next May by Godzilla vs Kong. The film serves as the culmination of Legendary’s MonsterVerse following Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film will feature the battle between the two legendary beasts as Monarch begins to uncover the secret origins of the Titans on Earth.
