A pilot for the proposed Gotham Knights series from the writers of Batwoman has been ordered by the CW.
Late last year it was revealed that the writers of Batwoman were developing a new show set in Gotham for the CW. The show in question was titled Gotham Knights but is apparently not a spinoff of the previous show. It also has nothing to do with the upcoming video game of the same name but does have a similar premise.
The upcoming CW Gotham Knight series will follow one of Bruce Wayne’s adopted sons, (it’s not clear which one it will be), who forms an alliance with the various children of Batman’s enemies after they are framed for his murder. After a period of development, the CW has ordered a pilot for the potential series. Warner Bros TV and Berlanti Productions are producing the series.
Batwoman writers Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux, and Chad Fiveash have been developing the series for the CW with the latter two serving as executive producers. Longtime Arrowverse producer Greg Berlanti is also serving as an executive producer. The pilot is being directed by Danny Cannon who will also serve as a producer as well.
Here is the synopsis for the Gotham Knights video game:
Batman is dead. It is now up to the Batman Family – Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin – to protect Gotham City, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. You must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save Gotham from chaos.
The upcoming game is scheduled for a 2022 release and will be playable on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
