Gotham‘s third season will introduce a plethora of new villains to the mix, including Mad Hatter, Talon, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, and more movement on the Jerome-to-Joker transformation. Aside from all the new baddies, one of the show’s established characters, Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) will get to meet a member of her family that should bring her joy and excitement. In reality, however, it doesn’t go so well.
Actress Carmen Bicondova, who plays the young Selina Kyle, revealed exactly which family member she will meet.
“Selina gets to meet a family member that’s very dear to her heart — her mom. And that doesn’t really go the way she expected it to.”
In the comics, Selina’s mother (Maria Kyle) has a very tragic story. She is a distant parent who prefers to spend most of her time with cats, and ends up committing suicide when Selina is at a very young age. As a result, her father, Brian, is cold to Selina for resembling her mother and eventually drinks himself to death. If that is the route they decide to travel down in season three, then Selina is in for an emotional rollercoaster. In the true spirit of Gotham, however, they will probably change up her story just a bit to fit into the show’s narrative. We will have to wait and see what the final result will be.
