Grant Gustin revealed his negotiations to return for the potential eighth and ninth seasons of The Flash were halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In March, The Flash was one of the many projects that had to shut down production in order to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. As a result, the series will have a shorter-than-normal season this year, but Grant Gustin revealed that his discussions to return for a potential eighth and ninth season were also impacted by the pandemic.

During an interview on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, Grant Gustin confirmed that his current contract expires with the upcoming seventh season of The Flash. While Gustin was in the midst of renegotiations to sign on for the potential eighths and seventh seasons, the coronavirus pandemic forced to conversations to halt:

“The conversations actually had started already for adding a potential eighth and ninth [season], but then this pandemic happened, and everything has stopped. We don’t know when we’re back, and I don’t know when we’re going to continue the renegotiation talks.”
