The first images from The Flash season nine offer fans a first look at the long-awaited return of the Grant Gustin series.

Barry Allen, Iris West, Allegra Garcia and Chester P. Runk are back in the official images from the premiere episode of the ninth and final season of The Flash. Earlier this month, Grant Gustin was spotted shooting more The Flash season nine scenes alongside Arrowverse veterans Stephen Amell, David Ramsey and Keiynan Lonsdale. At the time, Gustin and the rest of the actors were shooting the ninth episode of the final season.

The Flash season nine consists of thirteen episodes instead of its usual twenty-plus installments. The series is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Eric Wallace, Sarah Schechter, Sam Chalsen and Jonathan Butler. Its production is based in Vancouver, Canada.

The storyline of The Flash season nine

The official The Flash season nine synopsis reads as follows: “After defeating the Reverse Flash once and for all, the ninth season of THE FLASH picks up one week later following their epic battle, and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) are reconnecting and growing closer than ever before. But when a deadly group of Rogues descend on Central City led by a powerful new threat, The Flash and his team—Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Meta-Empath Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), the light-powered meta Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton), brilliant tech-nerd Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight), and reformed cryogenics thief Mark Blaine (Jon Cor)—must once again defy impossible odds to save the day. But as The Rogues are defeated, a deadly new adversary rises to challenge Barry Allen’s heroic legacy. And in their greatest battle yet, Barry and Team Flash will be pushed to their limits, in order to save Central City one last time.”

The Flash season nine features several core cast members, including Grant Gustin Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight. The series has also recruited Arrowverse veterans Javicia Leslie and Nicole Maines, though details about their roles are being kept under wraps.
