New Spider-Man: No Way Home concept art shows the webhead meeting his match in Green Goblin.
One of the greatest rivalries in pop culture has to be the beef between Green Goblin and Spider-Man. The two have been duking it out on comic book pages for decades, but their feud for one another was first immortalized on the big screen in 2002’s Spider-Man. The first film in the Spidey Sam Raimi trilogy gave birth to Willem Dafoe’s devilishly sinister take on Green Goblin. It’s hard to imagine anyone else donning the green suit and being so cruel to Spider-Man, which is why Dafoe was roped in to play the big bad in No Way Home.
Despite not even being from Tom Holland’s Spidey universe, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin toyed with this multiversal Peter Parker, breaking him down on several occasions. One of the most chaotic moments from Spider-Man: No Way Home was the fight between the duo at Happy Hogan’s apartment complex. The battle would eventually lead to Peter Parker’s beloved Aunt May perishing, one of the most significant moments in the high schooler’s life.
With the film now practically seen by everybody, artist Marek Oren has shared concept art from Spider-Man: No Way Home, which shows Green Goblin absolutely decimating Peter as he hurls him through the building’s floor. A piece of subsequent artwork shows Peter reeling from the fight on the ground. Talk about a rough battle.
Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man No Way Home:
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”
