Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will reunite audiences with their favorite team of unlikely heroes when it hits theaters next month. However, the film will also introduced several new characters including Ego the Living Planet and a mysterious character played by Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone, respectively. Fans may remember that the two actors had previously starred together in the film Tango & Cash, prompting some to wonder if the two stars might reunite in the highly anticipated sequel. In an interview with Total Film, Russell revealed that the two actors did not get the chance to work together on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but they did have a few opportunities to reunite off-screen.
Russell confirms that Ego will not appear on screen with Stallone’s character.
“Well… no, there’s nothing there. But what was fun was, when I learned that Sly was going to play a part, it was fun to just be ale to feel that we were in the same movie.
Russell did get to reunite with Stallone off-screen and discussed the time he spent with his former co-star.
“I saw Sly two or three times during the making of the movie and after. It was great to be able to, once gain, hang with Sly. He’s a really huge person. His demeanor, everything about him. He always puts a smile on my face, and we share lots of laughs. I find him to be very smart and very funny – and alive… He’s a great hang. This was just fun, being in the same sandbox. It was nice to have that connection again.”
