One of the best lines in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is undoubtedly when Yondu (Michael Rooker) exclaims, “I’m Mary Poppins y’all!” after Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) tells him Mary Poppins is cool. Since the film’s release and the line first sent ripples of laughter through theaters everywhere, the internet has been having a field day with the idea of Yondu as Mary Poppins. From a slew of images all the way to a custom-made Funko Pop, Yondu has been reimagined as the magical nanny about as fast the internet can produce new content.
Not to be outdone, Michael Rooker himself has gotten in on the joke, a moment Marvel Studios captured and posted to their Twitter account. Posing with a Mary Poppins character actor at what looks to be a Disney park, it seems that Yondu has met his new idol. You can see the picture of the two below.

In fact, this joke is so popular that fans have suggested that Michael Rooker should have a cameo in December 2018’s Mary Poppins Returns, although no party has yet to actually comment on the possibility of this actually happening. For now, there’s a Change.org petition with over two-thousand signatures.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is playing in theaters right now. The film stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, and Kurt Russell as Ego.
