A new rumor may shed light on the plot in the upcoming third Guardians of the Galaxy film which James Gunn will return to direct.

Plot details for the project remain under wraps although the events of Avengers: Endgame seemingly set up the search for Gamora with Thor going along for the ride with the galaxy’s unlikeliest group of heroes. But according to Roger Wardell who has shared accurate information in the past, the film will include several surprises for the members of the team including Rocket whose creator is revealed to be the High Evolutionary, as well as Drax who learns his daughter is still alive.

Not only that but Rocket seems poised to get a new love interest as Nebula and Star-Lord become closer as friends.

Production on the project was originally expected to begin this past January. James Gunn was set to direct the project from a script he wrote but the film was ultimately delayed after Disney removed James Gunn from the project before reversing their decision and bringing James Gunn back earlier this year. But to complicate matters even further, James Gunn jumped ship after being let go by Disney over to DC Films to both write and direct the long-in-development Suicide Squad sequel, bringing a whole new take on the supervillain team-up. He’ll now do both films with The Suicide Squad set to go before the lens prior to filming of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn. The cast of Guardians of the Galaxy can currently be seen in Avengers: Endgame.

Here’s the synopsis to Avengers: Endgame:
