Gugu Mbatha-Raw revealed Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has resumed production and teased how fun the Disney Plus series will be.
In a new interview with Forbes, Loki star Gugu Mbatha-Raw revealed work has resumed on the Tom Hiddleston series, explaining that the pandemic gave her a “real break”. The actress was quick to point out that she’s not had it as bad as a lot of others in the current climate, but that she’s grateful to be back working. Most recently, photos from the Atlanta set of the Disney Plus show revealed a large set mid-way through construction, so fans correctly assumed that work would begin again soon.
“I was in the middle of filming when the pandemic happened, so I had a real break, I’ve been painting and reading. Like so many others, I was at home for a long time. Not to make light of the suffering going on, but in some ways, it has been an opportunity for me to get a fresh perspective on things. It is downtime that perhaps I might not have had, and now I’m thankful to be back to work. It’s been a journey for everyone, but it’s all for a greater reason and the greater good.”
When asked if she’s spent the time off catching up on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw explained that although she’d seen some of them, she watched the rest of films when she was given Disney Plus as part of her job. The star had previously teased the series, explaining that fans will enjoy seeing Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief mature in a different way. But when speaking to Forbes, the actress noted that she couldn’t discuss Loki in detail, but revealed that it’s a lot of fun and that safety is a high priority on-set now that production has resumed in Atlanta.
“I’d already watched a lot of them. I got Disney+ when I got the job, so I binged a lot of it then. I’m obviously sworn to secrecy about everything to do with Loki, but it feels great to be back. Everyone is trying to do it as safely as possible under the circumstances, and it feels good. I’m excited. It’s a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to see it.”
