After concept art for Guillermo Del Toro’s Justice League Dark film leaked earlier this year, the script for the cancelled movie has reportedly made its way online.
Guillermo Del Toro’s Justice League Dark film is one of those mythical projects that fans have only discovered snippets about, but a new report from Murphy’s Multiverse suggests the full script has leaked – with the outlet revealing the overall story for the horror adventure. The film would’ve seen John Constantine leave the Shadowpact team to form his own group of Zatanna, Etrigan the Demon, Deadman and Swamp Thing. Fans previously saw concept art of the elemental hero which showed off a towering version of the classic monster. The Guillermo Del Toro film would’ve seen the Floronic Man and Klarion the Witch Boy hunt the books of life and death so they can resurrect a dangerous entity known as Gugalanna, which could raze the world.
Justice League Dark would have reportedly included cameos from fan-favorite characters like Doctor Fate, Detective Chimp, Shade and even Animal Man at the Oblivion Bar, which exists in its own pocket dimension. According to Murphy’s Multiverse, the Guillermo Del Toro film would have seen Constantine sacrifice himself to save the world, although he eventually survived using supernatural methods, of course. It’ll be interesting to see if J.J. Abrams’ Justice League Dark HBO Max series and/or film adopts any of the plot points Del Toro supposedly wanted to use for the team’s big screen adventure.
What do you think of the plot from the supposedly leaked script for Justice League Dark? Do you want to see these versions of the supernatural team appear in the series or film from J.J. Abrams? Sound-off in the comments below!
Details regarding the Justice League Dark series are being kept under wraps. J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot’s Head of Television Ben Stephenson are on board as executive producers, with the company’s Executive Vice President of Television, Rachel Rusch Rich, serving as an executive producer.
Warner Bros. has been trying to get a Justice League Dark movie off the ground for quite some time now. Guillermo del Toro and Doug Liman were previously attached to the project, but they both dropped out a few years ago. Additionally, the JLD character Swamp Thing had his own DC Universe series that was axed in June 2019 after just one season.
The Justice League Dark team was created by comic book writer Peter Milligan and artist Mikel Janín. The team made its debut in September 2011, consisting of characters like John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Shade, Zatanna and the Changing Man.
