Hackers have taken aim at Insomniac! The group has threatened to leak details about the company’s upcoming Wolverine project, including unannounced cameos from other Marvel characters, if not paid a ransom.
Insomniac’s Wolverine game is one of the most anticipated projects in the world of superhero video games. However, it seems the project has hit rocky waters. Reports indicate the studio was infiltrated by ransomware organization Rhysida, leaking personal details about many members of Insomniac’s staff. Rhysida has claimed they’ll leak everything they have on the Wolverine game, including all of the Marvel characters meant to be surprise cameos, if they’re not paid $2 million in bitcoin.
Insomniac is far from the only studio to be affected by ransomware attacks in recent years, with reports becoming exponentially more common as studios lag behind in their security for the digital age. Hopefully, Insomniac’s long-awaited Wolverine game doesn’t actually get leaked, but if it does, try to avoid looking at or sharing spoilers about potential cameos. Marvel holds reveals for a reason!
