Hailee Steinfeld has addressed the rumors that state she’s set to play Kate Bishop in Jeremy Renner’s upcoming Disney Plus series Hawkeye.
Since it was announced that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye would focus on the character passing the mantle onto Kate Bishop, fans have been wondering who would play his successor. Bishop, a member of Marvel’s Young Avengers team, is the third character to take on the Hawkeye name. Since last September, it has been rumored that Hailee Steinfeld, best known for voicing Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, would be joining the Disney Plus series as Hawkeye’s successor. After months of radio silence, Steinfeld has addressed the Marvel Cinematic Universe casting rumors.
In an interview with SiriusXM’s Morning Mash Up, the Pitch Perfect star was asked to discuss the validity surrounding her Marvel casting. Hailee Steinfeld played coy at first, citing that she didn’t hear the question due to connectivity issues. She later continued by revealing that she’s currently interested in focusing on her music at the current moment.
“You know, right now, I will tell you that music is where my head is at. That’s what I’m focused on… that is what is occupying my brain at the moment.”
Of course, Hailee Steinfeld could be keeping her Kate Bishop casting close to her chest to avoid discussing it in interviews and other publicity events. The rumor of her joining Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye has been so prevalent that at this point it’s hard to imagine anyone else taking on the role for the Disney Plus series. On the other hand, Steinfeld did just release a brand new EP over the weekend, which continues to solidify her relevance in the Pop music community. Hawkeye isn’t slated to hit Disney Plus until 2021 so Steinfeld has plenty of time to focus on her music, should she want to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
