Mark Hamill recently took to social media to praise co-star John Wesley Shipp, who played the titular hero opposite of Mark Hamill’s villainous Trickster in 1990’s The Flash TV series.
Mark Hamill has had a very iconic career for comic fans. Not only did he play the Trickster on the ’90s series The Flash, but he has, of course, provided the single most iconic Joker voice of all time. The actor has done it in various incarnations of the character over the decades, such as in Batman: The Animated Series, the animated movie Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, and several of the Batman: Arkham video games. It doesn’t hurt that he was also the lead actor in one of the most iconic films of all time, Star Wars, as well as its two sequels The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
Hamill has since returned as his villain the Trickster for appearances on The CW’s The Flash and recently he decided to look back on the role via his Twitter account, specifically to pay tribute to the great John Wesley Shipp, who played the original Flash in the ’90s. Shipp currently plays Jay Garrick on The CW’s The Flash series, where he has worn several variations of the iconic DC hero’s costume. Check out the heartwarming post from Hamill below.
He was halfway back into his street clothes. He could have been on his way home! Instead, @JohnWesleyShipp took the time to pose with my kids & be a real-life hero. Not just a wonderful actor, a wonderful person & such a mensch! (+Bonus pics of Trickterette Chelsea)❤️-Mar? pic.twitter.com/n7AW1UBjZv

When taking on the role of a superhero, an actor doesn’t necessarily need to bring that responsibility to their real life but it’s always effective when they do. Seeing stars like Gal Gadot, Christian Bale, Chris Evans, and Chris Pratt visiting young fans in hospitals or simply snapping some photos with fans on the street makes their fictional adventures feel even more real. If fans weren’t already going gaga for Shipp’s Flash, current and past, then they now have another reason to fall in love with the actor.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding The Flash and all heroes of the DC universe as soon as more information becomes available. Matching wits with The Thinker, who by season’s end had harnessed the powers of all twelve bus metas he created, stretched Team Flash to their limits, but with the help of some new allies, Barry Allen (aka The Flash) and company were able to put a stop to the Enlightenment and save Central City once again. However, with the arrival of Barry and Iris’ speedster daughter, Nora, who arrived from the future admitting to having made a “big mistake,” things are anything but status quo. Will parenthood be the challenge that finally slows The Flash down?
The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West and Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West-Allen.
