We have some big news for fans of Star Wars, and more specifically, Han Solo: Disney are looking for the female lead of their upcoming anthology movie!
Variety are exclusively reporting that actresses Tessa Thompson, Zoe Kravits, and Naomi Scott are currently testing for the leading female role in the Han Solo prequel.
Production doesn’t kick off until early 2017, and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are taking their sweet time with the casting – besides the main one: Alden Ehrenreich taking on the title role. This casting is said to be one of the longest and most drawn out processes in recent history, and rightfully so. Han Solo is a ridiculously popular character who deserves the right treatment.
Recent rumours suggest that Donald Glover will take on the role of Lando Calrissian, but Disney and Lucasfilm are doing a second round of screen tests to make sure they pick the right guy. He’s a smooth guy and we feel as if Glover could do the role justice, but nothing is official as of yet.
The first anthology movie in the Star Wars franchise comes in the form of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The movie focuses on a rebel group who plan to steal the plans for the Death Star, and will feature the villainous Darth Vader. Rogue One will be released on December 16th, 2016.
Han Solo‘s prequel movie hyperspeeds into theaters on May 25th, 2018.
