‘Ant-Man 2’ Star Hannah John-Kamen Discusses Ghost’s ‘Thunderbolts’ Return

Is Ghost ready to be a team player?

Ant-Man and The Wasp Ghost

Hannah John-Kamen is returning to the MCU as Ghost for the first time since her appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2024’s team-up movie Thunderbolts.

Thunderbolts will see John-Kamen’s Ghost joining forces with Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster and Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina. All the members of this team tread the thin line between hero and villain.

Ghost lacks the ego of some of her teammates and is certainly less accustomed to being part of a team. Hannah John-Kamen recently spoke about how that will affect her as she is recruited to the Thunderbolts.

Ghost’s Tricky MCU Return

While speaking to ComicBook.com at D23 Expo, Hannah John-Kamen reflected on how Ghost’s personality might make her an awkward addition to the Thunderbolts line-up.

Talking about returning to the role of Ava Starr in the MCU, John-Kamen touched upon the character’s reclusive nature and the difficulty she faces in connecting to others. It’s obviously going to be a challenge for Ghost to adapt to working alongside other antiheroes.

Hannah John-Kamen said of Ghost’s upcoming MCU return:

“Well, she doesn’t like to be touched… So that’s going to be interesting. She’s quite socially, well, she’s not social. She was, she grew up in the van. So she’s never actually had human contact with anyone. So this is gonna be interesting for Ghost to connect.”

Hannah John-Kamen’s last appearance as Ghost was as the main antagonist of Ant-Man and the Wasp. It is not yet known whether she will have a role in the film’s sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, though if so this could be used to set up her role in Thunderbolts.
