A new report claims that Harrison Ford is now the MCU’s Thunderbolt Ross, replacing the late William Hurt.

Academy Award winner William Hurt made his debut as Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross in The Incredible Hulk before reprising the role in four more Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Hurt passed away this past March at the age of 71, following a nealy decade-long struggle with cancer. Now, Marvel has reportedly recast his character with one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood.

Harison Ford is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe

According to a recent report, Harrison Ford has signed on to replace William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross, with his first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance coming in 2024’s Captain America: New World Order. Ford is then expected to return as Ross in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie.

The Thunderbolt Ross casting is coming from Jeff Sneider, one of the most reliable reporters in the business. Sneider broke the news during the latest episode of the Hot Mic podcast. The folks at Slashfilm later corroborated the report on their website.

Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross casting was supposed to be announced during Disney’s D23 Expo, but the reveal was blocked by Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm. Kennedy reportedly wanted to keep the spotlight on Indiana Jones 5, another project starring Ford.
