A deleted scene from Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye series showcases Clint Barton’s childhood and upbringing.

A series of deleted scenes from Disney Plus’ Hawkeye have made their way online, giving audiences further insight into some of their favorite characters. One of the most surprising deleted scenes out of the bunch puts the focus on a young Clint Barton. Ever since his debut in Thor, details on Barton’s personal life have been slim. It was a miracle that the secretive assassin revealed to the Avengers that he had a secret family in Age of Ultron.

While we know that he’s found a happy, somewhat stable family in adulthood, what was Clint Barton like as a youth? The deleted scene from Hawkeye pulls back the curtain, revealing just how the former Avenger got his modus operandi.

The scene starts off with Clint Barton and his young mother at a carnival, where the future superhero is seen pickpocketing patrons at the fair. He and his mother then find themselves at the duck shoot, where Barton naturally wins the biggest prize, revealing that he’s always been a great shot.

Some time passes and we find the mother-son duo in a car, where he asks his mother what they will do if they get caught, hinting at the previous pickpockets. There, his mother leads him to the conclusion that it’s alright to “do bad things to bad people”. One can imagine how this school of thought directly influenced Clint Barton’s military career at SHIELD and his stint as the Ronin, which was a key part of the Hawkeye series.

Here is the synopsis for Hawkeye:

Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.

Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Tony Dalton, Fra Free, Brian d’Arcy James, Aleks Paunovic, Piotr Adamczyk, Linda Cardellini, Simon Callow, Vera Farmiga, Alaqua Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. Florence Pugh also returned in her Black Widow role.

The first season of Hawkeye is now available to stream on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the series and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
