Fans were unsure about the future of Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Jeremy Renner’s snowplow accident that landed him in intensive care. Hailee Steinfeld, who played Kate Bishop on the Disney Plus series, has talked more about Renner’s recovery and her potential MCU return.
Jeremy Renner’s accident shocked the world with the extent of his injuries. Luckily, Renner was able to pull through in record time and is already back on his feet less than four months later. During a recent interview at CinemaCon, Hailee Steinfeld was asked if she spoke to her Hawkeye co-star since the incident. Steinfeld gave a heart-felt response to the question, saying that Renner was like the Clint Barton to her Kate Bishop:
“I have [spoken to him]. I’m going to get emotional talking about it,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m so grateful that he’s okay. He’s truly made a miraculous recovery. I go back to thinking about how excited I was just to meet him and then I realized very quickly, I can’t believe I’m going to admit this but I will for Jeremy: as Kate Bishop is to Clint [Barton], I am that way with Jeremy. I just couldn’t be more grateful that he’s okay. He’s more than okay. He’s such a fighter.”
Hailee Steinfeld was also asked about her potential return as Kate Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike her passionate response on Jeremy Renner’s recovery, the Spider-Verse star simply smiled and said “maybe.” Given how secretive Marvel can be about, the short tease from Steinfeld likely means good things for fans of Kate.

Jonathan Igla served as the head writer of Hawkeye, with Rhys Thomas and Bert & Bertie directing the six-episode series. Igla and Thomas were also credited as executive producers alongside Marvel Studios veterans Brad Winderbaum, Trinh Tran, Victoria Alonso, Louis D’Esposito and Kevin Feige.
The cast of Hawkeye also includes Tony Dalton, Fra Fee, Brian d’Arcy James, Aleks Paunovic, Piotr Adamczyk , Linda Cardellini, Simon Callow, Vera Farmiga, Zahn McClarnon, Florence Pugh and Vincent D’Onofrio. The entire series can be found on Disney Plus.
