‘Hellboy’ Reboot Lands Jefferson White & Adeline Rudolph

Hellboy casts two new friends!

Hellboy The Crooked Man Dark Horse Comics

Hellboy: The Crooked Man is an upcoming reboot of the Hellboy franchise starring Jack Kesy as the titular demon spawn. A new report from Deadline ndicates that Kesy will be joined by Jefferson White and Adeline Rudolph.

White, best known for his role as Jimmy Hurdstrom in the Paramount Plus show Yellowstone, will be playing Tom Ferrell. In The Crooked Man comic, Tom is a resident of the Appalachian Mountains who helps Hellboy defeat the titular Crooked Man using a lucky cat’s bone that he viewed as a lucky charm.

Rudolph is best known for her role as Billie Wesker in the Resident Evil Netflix series. She will be playing the character of Bobbie Jo Song. While Bobbie does not exist in the comics the film is based on, it is possible she’ll be playing the character of Effie Kolb. Effie Kolb is a witch who serves the Crooked Man. However, Effie also is one of the few characters closely tied to Tom Ferrell aside from Hellboy himself. Effie not only killed Tom’s father by turning him into a horse, but was also the one to teach him the witchcraft he used to enchant the lucky cat’s bone and eventually killed the Crooked Man.

Hellboy and his history on the big screen

Hellboy: The Crooked Man is set to take fans on a journey through one of the most beloved issues of the original comic series, promising to expand the titular character’s world and explore new depths of the Hellboy mythology. With the movie deep in development, Millenium is said to be in discussions with potential cast members.

The original Hellboy movie, released in 2004, was directed by Guillermo del Toro and starred Ron Perlman in the lead role. It was a critical and commercial success, spawning a sequel, titled Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Despite the popularity of the franchise, plans for a third installment were scrapped by the studio, leaving fans disappointed.

The announcement of a Hellboy reboot came in 2017, with Stranger Things breakout David Harbour attached to star and Neil Marshall set to direct. However, the film received mixed reviews and was a box office disappointment. It seemed unlikely that a sequel would be made, let alone a complete reboot of the franchise. However, Millennium has revealed its intention to breathe new life into the series, with Brian Taylor at the helm.

Brian Taylor is best known for his work on the Crank series, which he co-directed with Mark Neveldine. The films were known for their over-the-top action sequences and unconventional storytelling, which won over fans of the genre. Taylor has also directed other action films, such as Gamer and Mom and Dad, both of which received mixed reviews. It remains to be seen what his vision for the Hellboy reboot will look like, but fans are cautiously optimistic about his involvement.
