David Goyer recently revealed an alternate ending to Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel that would have been less controversial than the one we got.
Man of Steel is highly regarded by many in large part due to Henry Cavill’s Superman, but many still had a major issue with how the film ended. Of course, Superman famously snapped Zod’s neck, but writer David Goyer has revealed in the past that it was done to explain the “no kill” rule from the source material.
During Backstory’s Comic-Con@Home panel hosted by Jeff Goldsmith, David Goyer revealed that there was an alternate ending for Man of Steel that was considered where Henry Cavill’s Superman spared Zod:
“The idea was that Superman would – there was one of those sort of cryopods on the ship that ends up becoming the Fortress of Solitude that he’s able to put Zod back into and then throw out into space. We did talk about it and maybe some people would’ve been happier with that, but it felt like a cop out for the story that we were telling.”
