Did the Cavillrine always look this cool? Concept art for Deadpool and Wolverine shows off how Henry Cavill and the other Wolverine variants could have looked.
The most surprising cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine was the reveal that, somewhere in the Marvel multiverse, Henry Cavill was playing the Cavillrine. Despite how brief his appearance was, his take on the character turned out to be a fan-favorite among the variants, with the internet raving about how perfect the former Superman actor was for the role.
However, the Cavillrine wasn’t always planned to be a gunshow. Early concept art for the cameo has been released by concept artist Wesley Burt. While Henry Cavill always kept the tanktop in some form, alternate designs include multiple shades of a flannel overshirt. Though given how thick the actor’s chest hair is, there would’ve been no mistaking him as a variant in Deadpool and Wolverine.
The Cut Variants In Deadpool And Wolverine
Yet it seems for every Cavillrine, another cameo was left on the cutting room floor. Wesley Burt shared a whole swathe of concept art from the production of Deadpool and Wolverine alongside his work on Henry Cavill. While some will look familiar to fans of the film, others appear to have been changed drastically or cut entirely.
While it’s a shame not every variant could get their time to shine in Deadpool and Wolverine, it’s clear that the project kept the fan-favorites on the screen. It’s not likely that Henry Cavill will be making a return as Cavillrine anytime soon. However, his cameo, along with the rest of the multiversal variants, were a pleasant surprise in a film so focused on honoring the legacy of the two heroes.
